A little about me.
Originally from Mitchell, SD, I graduated from the University of South Dakota in 2004 with a Bachelors Degree in Contemporary Media & Journalism. I quickly got a job working at a Sioux City TV station, KCAU-TV, as a Production Assistant. However, the job I really wanted was the Commercial Producer position. I learned several aspects of live television production and proved to be a valuable asset to the KCAU-TV team. In just over a year I was promoted to Commercial Producer. Being the only Commercial Producer for an entire sales team was no easy task, but I am extremely organized & able to work well under pressure. During my time at KCAU-TV I was able to meet with clients & work closely with the sales staff to script, light, shoot, direct and edit over 800 commercials.
I felt it was time to take my career in a different direction during the spring of 2010. I started working for Tiger-Rock Martial Arts International in April of 2010. I assisted in the advertising design and production of the Tiger-Rock brand as well as assisting with franchise development.
In November of that year I was given the opportunity to be part of the Creative Services team for KMEG-KPTH. The work was very similar to what I had done at KCAU, but I was able to use the skills that I had acquired over the years to perfect and streamline my video production abilities. During my time at KMEG-KPTH, I produced over 200 commercials and station promotions.
In July of 2012, I decided to be a stay-at-home dad to my newborn baby boy and enjoyed every minute. My time at home with my son gave me perspective into my life and career goals. While at home, I continued to do video production on a freelance basis. I produced several videos for Chatterkick and co-edited the Pilot episode of Dakota Sportsman, a TV show that is featured on the Sportsman Channel.
My passion for video production led me to Dakota Video & Post, where I was an Account Producer for almost five years. I oversaw the production of about 70 television commercials per month, from scripting to the final station delivery. I worked alongside voice talents, videographers, graphic artists and editors to assure that every commercial exceeded the expectations of the client.
In February of 2019 I started work as a Photographer/Producer on the daily television series KELOLand Living. I have produced over 400 segments for the series with local businesses and have gained a reputation as someone who can make great productions with a very short "turnaround" time.
I truly have a passion for telling stories through video and I am always looking for new ways to improve my craft and stay one step ahead of the curve.
